Frequently Asked Questions

Is FB Bombas a real manufacturer or just a fire system integrator?

FB Bombas has been an industrial pump manufacturer since 1944 — we design and produce the centrifugal (FBCN) and jockey pumps used in our fire fighting systems. Skids are assembled at our Cabreúva-SP factory, with integration of motor (diesel or electric), control panel and instrumentation. We are not a third-party integrator — we are the equipment origin.

Do FB Bombas skids comply with NFPA 20?

Yes, all skids are designed per NFPA 20 (Standard for the Installation of Stationary Pumps for Fire Protection), as well as ABNT NBR 16704, NBR 10897 (sprinklers) and NBR 13714 (hydrants). Main pump, jockey, motor and panel are specified per standard requirements for the application.

What is the flow and pressure range of FB systems?

We manufacture skids from 60 to 1,500 GPM (227 to 5,678 L/min) and pressures up to 200 mwc, serving from commercial buildings (shopping centers, hospitals) to refineries and offshore platforms. Each skid is individually sized per building demand.

Does FB Bombas supply systems with redundant diesel and electric motors?

Yes, we supply redundant diesel + electric systems for high-criticality buildings — refineries, hospitals, shopping centers, terminals. The redundant configuration ensures continuous operation even in case of one power source failure.

How long does it take to manufacture a fire pump skid?

Typical lead-time of 12 to 20 weeks depending on skid complexity (flow, redundancy, special materials). The schedule is defined in proposal after technical analysis of the project and dialogue with the responsible engineer.

What is the normative compliance of the control panel?

Control panel compliant with NFPA 20 chapter 10 and NBR 5410 for electrical installations, with national components approved and traceable documentation for AVCB clearance.

Does FB Bombas offer on-site commissioning and acceptance testing?

Yes, we offer on-site commissioning service with specialized technician — alignment verification, start-up testing, jockey pressure switch adjustment, response time validation and operational team training. The service is especially recommended for certified projects (AVCB).

Is the system compatible with AVCB and Brazilian Fire Department?

All our systems are designed for compliance with AVCB (Brazilian Fire Department Inspection Certificate) and state Technical Instructions. We supply technical memorial, performance curve, operation manual and ART when requested, facilitating approval by the Fire Department.
