FB Bombas is a Brazilian industrial pump manufacturer since 1944, in Cabreúva-SP. It builds six lines in the same plant: external (FBE) and internal (FBEI) gear pumps for viscous fluids, normalized centrifugal pumps (FBCN) for water and process duty, thermal oil pumps up to 350°C (FBOT), fire-fighting systems (FBFS) and custom-engineered solutions. Vertically integrated single-site operation: CNC machining, in-house assembly and a hydraulic test bench. Exports to 10 Latin American countries: Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Venezuela, Uruguay, Paraguay and Bolivia.

Every FB pump starts as a technical drawing — gear geometry, volute and casing validated in 2D CAD before any cut. CFD simulations confirm hydraulic performance under the customer's real operating conditions.
What begins as a digital design takes shape in our manufacturing facility: CNC machining, assembly and bench testing — all in-house, with full traceability from start to finished product.

Identify the fluid type
What fluid will be pumped?
- Viscosity – in SSU or cP at operating temperature
- Temperature – min. and max. working temp.
- Characteristics – clean, turbid, with solids, abrasive?
- Compatibility – corrosive, toxic, flammable?
Tip: Viscosity is the main criterion for gear pumps. Higher viscosity requires lower rotation speed.

Frequently Asked Questions
Viscosity is the main parameter for sizing FBE gear pumps. The higher the fluid viscosity (measured in SSU or cP), the lower the pump speed should be. Highly viscous fluids (above 10,000 SSU) require speeds of 200-400 RPM, while light oils can operate at 1750 RPM. FB Bombas offers models from 1/8" to 6" with flow rates from 5 to 6,500 L/min.
Mechanical seals (Type 21 standard on FBE pumps) are ideal for clean fluids, high pressure, and when zero leakage is critical. They use ceramic x graphite faces with Viton elastomers. Packing is recommended for abrasive fluids or those with particles, allows field adjustments, and has lower maintenance costs. For thermal oil (FBOT), we use graphite packing that withstands up to 350°C.
NPSH (Net Positive Suction Head) is the absolute pressure available at the pump suction minus the vapor pressure of the liquid. NPSHa (available in the installation) must always be greater than NPSHr (required by the pump) to avoid cavitation. Our FBCN centrifugal pumps follow the ASME B73.1 standard that specifies mechanical requirements and NPSHr values for each model. Contact our engineering for NPSHa calculation.
We manufacture pumps in various materials according to the application: Gray Cast Iron (ASTM A48 CL30) for oils and non-corrosive fluids; Ductile Iron (ASTM A536 60-40-18) for greater mechanical strength; Carbon Steel (ASTM A216 WCB) for high pressure; 316 Stainless Steel (ASTM A743 CF8M) for corrosive and food-grade fluids; Bronze (ASTM B584 C93700) for gears in special applications. All FBE series can be customized.
External gear pumps (FBE) use two identical gears rotating in opposite directions, offering higher pressure (up to 22 kgf/cm²) and are ideal for viscous fluids like asphalt, molasses, and heavy oils. Internal gear pumps have one gear inside another, are quieter, and suitable for low-viscosity fluids. FB Bombas manufactures both types - contact our engineering for special projects.
FBE pumps with heating jacket (CA) have a cavity around the body where steam or thermal oil circulates, keeping the pumped fluid at the ideal temperature. Essential for asphalt (which solidifies below 140°C), chocolate, molasses, and resins. The jacket is designed for steam pressures up to 10 kgf/cm² and has flanged connections for heating fluid inlet and outlet.
