FB Bombas Engineering — Custom builds

How we design a custom solution

Every project starts on a process spreadsheet and ends on our own bench. Briefing → memorial → manufacturing → testing → shipping. All traceable, with documented testing on our own bench.

        01 · Briefing

The technical briefing defines the entire project

Before any drawing, we validate: fluid (composition, viscosity at operating temperature, solids, abrasiveness), demand curve (flow, pressure, available NPSH), mechanical and electrical interfaces (flange, voltage, frequency, area classification) and what the set must deliver in the field (continuous duty, starts/hour, expected maintenance).

        • 14-point fluid analysis (pH, viscosity × T, solids, NPSH)
        • Base series selection: FBE/FBEI for viscous, FBCN ASME B73.1 for process, FBOT up to 350 °C
        • Hazardous area classification (Ex d/Ex e) when applicable
        • Milestone-driven approval timeline: memorial, P&ID, assembly, testing
        02 · Configurations

Skid, retrofit or mobile set — choice driven by the operation

We do not sell shelf product. Deliverable format depends on the customer scenario: skid when there is available footprint and continuous demand; retrofit when the customer already has foundation and piping; mobile set when operation migrates between fronts (well maintenance, emergency transfer, CIP cleaning).

        • Skid: pump + motor + panel + piping + base, assembled and tested
        • Retrofit: new pump fitted to existing foundation, coupling and flanges
        • Mobile set: pump on cart with diesel or portable electric motor
        • Sets painted in safety color or customer standard (NR-26 when fire-related)
        03 · Validation

Technical validation on our own bench

Every custom solution goes through the same acceptance protocol as the catalog series: for performance, hydrostatic at 1.5× design pressure at critical points. The customer receives the actual measured curve — not just the extrapolated rated curve.

        • H × Q × η × NPSH curve measured on bench
        • Hydrostatic pressure at 1.5× design, 30 min with no drop
        • Dimensional check before final painting
        • Vibration and noise evaluated with pump on water, at operating point

        Scenarios we handle frequently

Examples below are anonymized out of respect for the customer. They are meant to help you spot a scenario close to yours — and anticipate what fits a technical briefing before requesting a quote.

        • Sugar-ethanol: molasses transfer skid, FBEI 4" + reducer + 22 kW motor
        • Sanitation: retrofit of imported pump with equivalent FBCN + adjusted base
        • Petrochemical: FBCN 6" set with API 682 plan 32 mechanical seal — API 610 requirements evaluated as a special project
        • CIP cleaning: mobile set on cart with 7.5 kW electric motor
        • Custom fire fighting: NFPA 20 skid with electric pump + diesel + jockey
        05 · API 610

API 610 compliant projects: what we deliver — and what we do not promise

API 610 is the standard for centrifugal pumps in petroleum, petrochemical and natural gas services. At FB Bombas it enters as a special project requirement: engineering evaluates the request requirement by requirement — materials, sealing per API 682, seal plans, witnessed tests — and documents in the project memorial what is met in full and what is met by an equivalent alternative, for the customer to decide. API 610 compliance is not a universal attribute of the catalog FBCN or FBOT lines: the catalog FBCN follows ASME B73.1, and API 610 compliance is defined case by case in the project.

        • Requirement-by-requirement API 610 assessment recorded in the special project memorial
        • Sealing per API 682, with seal plan defined by the application (e.g., plan 23, plan 32)
        • Performance and hydrostatic testing on our own bench, witnessed by the customer when required
        • No overclaim: catalog FBCN follows ASME B73.1; API 610 is special engineering scope
