External Gear Pump FBE 1/2"

The FBE 1/2" external gear pump is designed for viscous fluid transfer in oil transfer, viscous fluids, industrial processes applications. At this size, the selection table of technical manual MTEC-01/01 covers viscosities up to 7,500 SSU, with maximum flow of approximately 18 L/min at 1,750 rpm and discharge pressure up to 22 kgf/cm². This size is supplied in the standard construction, without a heating chamber — the CA option exists only from FBE 1.1/2" upward; the series operates at temperatures up to 350°C depending on the selected sealing.

Construction per the manual: one-piece cast casing with feet and ports opposed at 180°, one pair of external-tooth helical gears (drive and driven), shafts supported on bushings — TM23 bronze, graphite or PTFE, according to casing material — and sealing by packing, mechanical seal (type 21 standard), lip seal or magnetic coupling, with no sleeve in the sealing area. Casing in ASTM A48 cast iron, ASTM A536 ductile iron, ASTM A216 WCB carbon steel, ASTM A743 CF8M stainless or ASTM B584 bronze; gears in SAE 1045 steel (standard), SAE 8640, AISI 316 stainless or SAE J462 bronze. Ports with internal BSP thread (NPT option); in ductile iron, steel or stainless, an adaptable ANSI B16.42 RF or ANSI B16.5 RF flange is available.

To specify the FBE 1/2", consider the fluid viscosity at operating temperature, the required differential pressure, the available NPSH and the chemical compatibility of materials. Speed is set by viscosity (manual Table 2): 1,750 rpm on direct drive for fluids up to 250 SSU, reducing to 850 rpm as viscosity rises. When choosing the motor, the manual recommends a power margin of 50% up to 2 cv, 30% from 3 to 5 cv, 25% from 6 to 10 cv, 15% from 11 to 25 cv and 10% above 25 cv (cv = metric horsepower).
