Side-by-side technical guide to FB Bombas' 6 industrial pump lines — external gear (FBE), internal gear (FBEI), standardized centrifugal (FBCN), thermal oil (FBOT), fire-fighting systems and custom engineered solutions.
FB Bombas manufactures six industrial pump lines, each engineered for a different hydraulic principle. Use external gear (FBE) for viscous fluids in continuous transfer; internal gear (FBEI) when the application requires low pulsation or hot-melt fluids; standardized centrifugal (FBCN) for high flow rates of clean liquids in process industries; FBOT for thermal oil circulation up to 350°C; NFPA 20 systems for fire-fighting; and custom solutions (skids, retrofit, mobile units) when the standard line doesn't fit. This guide compares all six side by side.
Eleven selection criteria crossed with the six FB lines — values taken directly from the technical manuals of our factory in Cabreúva-SP.

Five questions about your fluid, your flow and your process — at the end, the FB line our engineering recommends for your case.
Each line was born for a distinct hydraulic principle — gear, centrifugal, special — and for an application range where another pump type simply does not deliver efficiency or durability.
External gear for viscous fluids
Lubricating oils, asphalt, biodiesel, resins, chocolate, molasses, paints, viscous solvents
The fluid is water or a thin liquid at high flow — FBCN is more efficient for these cases
Internal gear for low pulsation
Hot-melt adhesives, polymers, latex, low-pulsation applications, precise dosing
The application requires very high flow (>600 L/min) or very thin fluids
Normalized horizontal centrifugal
Chemical, pulp & paper, mining, steelmaking, food, water treatment (WTP/WWTP)
The fluid is viscous (>500 SSU), heavily abrasive, or requires ultra-low pulsation — consider FBE or FBEI
Thermal oil up to 350°C
Thermal oil boilers, presses, processes with precise temperature control
The fluid is not organic thermal oil or temperature stays below 100°C continuously
NFPA 20 / NBR 10897
Sprinklers, hydrants, building and industrial fire protection
The use is normal industrial process, not fire-fighting — use the appropriate line (FBCN for water)
Custom engineering
Legacy pump retrofit, pre-assembled skids, mobile units, atypical projects
One of the standard lines already meets the need — standard lines have shorter lead time and lower cost
The six questions our engineering receives when the designer is torn between lines — answered by real technical criteria.
Both are positive displacement pumps for viscous fluids, but external gear (FBE) uses two parallel gears that produce low-pulsation flow, ideal for continuous transfer of oils, resins, asphalt and biodiesel. Internal gear (FBEI) has one rotor inside another, producing nearly pulseless flow — ideal for hot-melt adhesives, polymers, latex and precise dosing. FBEI also accepts a heating jacket for fluids that solidify at ambient temperature.
